Happy Thanksgiving!
On Thanksgiving, we headed over to my parents' house in the morning--just in time to watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Andrew REALLY enjoyed it and was quite excited when his favorite Buzz Lightyear came flying down the street.

It was a bit past Andrew's nap time and he was so tired that he actually asked to go take a nap. So, we let him dive in to the delicious eats a little early. He sure did enjoy the turkey, as evidenced by him stuffing his face!

The rest of the day was spent enjoying time with family & doing a little "game" planning for the Black Friday shopping. It was never any kind of tradition in my family and in fact, the first time any of us remember even attempting doing any shopping was the year I was pregnant with Andrew. So, 2006 was our first Black Friday experience and it went so well that we have done it every year since. This year, my mom and I headed out a little after 3:00am (not nearly as crazy as my sister--who started at the outlet malls at 10pm!). Other than a rather long line for check-out at the Disney store and one poorly run Walmart, the morning went well and we were able to get most of the things that we were looking for. Both of us now have a nice start on Christmas shopping & were able to score some REALLY good deals on a few other things that we had been wanting to get.
We've spent the rest of the weekend finishing up with Christmas decorations and just doing some things around the house. It has been really fun watching Andrew's excitement about Christmas this year. He wanted to see EVERY single decoration that we pulled out. There was lots of "OOhhh, what's that?", "whatcha doing Mommy?", and "wanna see that". As we drive around, he is quite excited to see all the Christmas lights & is enjoying listening to Christmas music. He is also much more noticeably aware of Christmas characters this year--like Santa and "Frosty the Snowman". And, he is really enjoying "Silent Night". It's a big board book that plays the tune and has a whole story. In addition to the music, there are lights all around Baby Jesus. So, he has been quite enthralled with that the past 24 hours!

We've already started a few Christmas craft projects and are so excited for what the next few weeks bring, leading up to the holidays. Hard to believe that there are only 3 more weekends until Christmas. We are looking forward to having a big portion of Brian's family here for Christmas this year. They've never been here for Christmas before, so that should be a fun change. We've already told Andrew about it--and he exclaimed this morning that Grandma Dallas, Grandpa Gordon, and Santa were all going to be coming! :) So cute!
By the end of the parade, my grandparents had all arrived and the turkey was just about done. MMMmmmmm!
After all that face stuffing, our little stuffed turkey did a little stretching & went down for a good nap. I think a nap sounded good to all of us after a big lunch! :)
