Since our "rough week" in November, I had virtually no more curriculum writing work and as of the second week in December, was no longer watching kids. So, I ramped up efforts to attempt to make some money from writing Mom Endeavors. It worked! :) I was accepted to some various marketing groups and after the first of the year, became a contributing writer on two sites! :) The Happy Housewife and Savvy Sassy Moms. Certainly no "get rich quick" scheme, but an extra $20-$100 here and there is certainly helpful! And, getting paid to shop (yes, for real), host little parties (one coming up for March Madness), and getting free products delivered to your door is super cool! :)
So, just about the time all that was being processed and really taking flight in mid-January, guess what? Adaptive Curriculum (the company who I write curriculum for) contacts me with a HUGE job to do. The deadline was February 1st. I was crazy busy. Then, the day after completing that work, I heard from another person in the company I had done work for and he needed help on another BIG project--deadline, February 14th. Great way to spend Valentine's Day, huh?! Financially, it was a huge blessing. But, it definitely took a toll on balance and spending quality time with the kids!
So, while this "work at home" gig has been great, I've struggled more than I thought in finding balance. Throw in some Dr.'s appointments for Brian (I'll fill you in on the details of that after an appointment soon), trying to determine what we will do for Andrew & school next year, a trip to Kansas City, and planning their birthday party...and well, I've not been succeeding at "getting it all done". The family blog has suffered, as have other things here at home. I'm working on it!
But, I've got lots of stuff to update you on--so stay tuned...it's coming, I promise. :)
Things have a way of working out. You're doing a great job! And you made me feel better by writing this because I kept wondering how you were getting it all done, etc. and I started to feel like I might not be doing enough around here!
