It's been a "bury your head in the sand"...or bury yourself in blankets kind of week.
Yes, all the boys are in that picture--just buried in blankets (or, as Andrew would tell you, "in the nest").
I wrote earlier about our family photo fail and then Eli getting his first stomach bug. Little did we know then though that it was the start of a rough week! Here's the rest of the story...
Friday: I completed the last ancillary writing package that the curriculum company has for me for the foreseeable future. They do still have some small consulting jobs for me, but the money coming in from that will definitely be much less than the big writing packages I have been completing.
Saturday: Brian was up in the wee hours of the morning feeling sick and we both woke up feeling absolutely miserable--nauseous, chills, body aches, exhausted. Thankfully, neither one of us threw up, but still quite unpleasant.
Sunday: We said goodbye to "kiki" (aka "kitty"...real-name: "lily"). She is now living with a girl in Brian's lab.
The decision was made for a multitude of reasons and is really for the best for everyone, including her. But, still tough nonetheless.
Monday: Brian found out that his paper was rejected from another journal yet again (the 5th time since April)...which means quite a few more months of waiting before new job opportunities can be looked at.
Tuesday: On the way home from watching the kids I do a few times a week, Andrew succumbed to the stomach bug--in the car. Enter something from my nightmares--vomit all over him, the car seat, etc. (For those that aren't aware, I don't "do" vomit. Blood, guts, dissections with my bare hands--all fine, interesting even. But vomit--um, heck no! In fact, until I was pregnant with Andrew, I hadn't thrown up since 8th grade because... I. HATE. IT!) So, I stopped the moment I could in a grocery store parking lot and somehow managed to get him relatively cleaned up (without crying or vomiting myself)....only to have it happen in the car again, 5 minutes from home. UGH!
Wednesday: Got a call from our friends about babysitting...due to an issue with one of the kids, they are looking into other arrangements and wanted to let me know that we may be done going over there. So, enter loss of monthly income--for the second time this week!!!
Thursday: While signing up for benefits (that are going up in price) Brian found out from HR that post-docs are no longer eligible for retirement. So great, loss of income and retirement in the same week.
Then, at the Dr. for Eli, it's decided that we should have a swallow study done (to assess if there is any physical issue with his throat, esophagus, etc and will also show reflux). We're waiting on a scheduling call from Phoenix Children's Hospital. (This really should be a good thing, but the whole situation has just been a little overwhelming as we try to figure out what his issue is causing the daily fussiness, screaming, choking, etc.)
Friday: Eli wakes up sick with a bad cold/respiratory bug--he is currently so hoarse he can't even cry/scream--fever, runny nose, feeling awful, etc. Poor thing!!!
Is your head spinning from all that, because mine is?! Clearly, it's been a bit overwhelming and a lay around in our jammies kind of week...

We are definitely looking forward to what should turn out to be a much better week coming up--starting tomorrow with a Harry Potter movie date with friends, followed of course by Thanksgiving, shopping, and Christmas decorating! Yay! :)
