Recovery Update

We had Brian's follow-up appointments with the endocrinologist and surgeon--all with good news. First and foremost, NO cancer! Thank the Lord!! No one was expecting there to be, it is nice to have that confirmation as the parathyroid problems were caused by a tumor (just so happens that it tends to be non-cancerous about 99% of the time). The parathyroid tumor and biopsies of surrounding lymph nodes were sent to pathology and came back all clear! :)
Here's the other info:
    - The endocrinologist ran labs to check Brian's levels. No results back on that yet, but he has no symptoms of low calcium now. So, we think his levels must be good. He'll still have to continue appointments though to monitor the Hashimoto's Disease. His thyroid looked pretty bad because of it (it's an autoimmune disorder, so your body attacks the thyroid), and eventually it will stop working.
    - He can't lift the boys for another week. That's definitely the hardest part. Andrew has been asking every morning if Daddy can "wrestle" yet!
    - No weight-lifting for a month
    - Vitamin E on the incision and sunscreen daily. The new skin can pigment differently, so he needs to wear sunscreen there and if he will be out in the sun for long periods (swimming, beach, etc.), he should keep the area covered. For a YEAR!!! Crazy!

The last thing of the appointment was removing the tape! We are SO pleased with the incision. In fact, we were almost shocked at how good it looked! We're hoping that with the Vitamin E and sunscreen the scar should be barely noticeable!
 See?!
