Andrew moments...

As I've mentioned before, Andrew's language development has exploded over the past many months.  And in the past few, he has become quite the conversationalist.  He tells us what he wants to do, what he likes, what he did at school, etc.  And, we have been amazed at some of the sentences he has put together all on his own--like yesterday while we were watching Cars and he turned to me to say, "Lightning's trying to find Mac, Mommy"...or every morning on our way out of the driveway, he exclaims, "Daddy's going to work again, Mommy".

We have been really impressed lately with the development of some manners--he is saying please and thank you (or "thanks") often without any prompting.  And, when asked to do something lately, he often says "ok".  In addition, his emotional awareness of others is really starting to show.  He tells us when someone/something is sad, happy, or scary (especially some of the characters in the movies he watches) and when someone is not being nice.

With all this though comes some VERY funny moments (or at least to us anyway)--a sort of "kids say the 'darnedest' things":
-While hiking in the spring, Andrew was in the backpack and a lady was coming up the trail.  It was already quite warm, she was tan and had a little peach spaghetti-strapped tank top on (so had a lot of skin showing)--Andrew started pointing and cried out, "NAKED!"  Lucky for us she had her headphones in!

-One morning (also last spring), Andrew was playing on the kitchen floor while we made breakfast and our lunches for the day.  We heard Andrew saying, "cracker, cracker".  So, I looked down to see if he had found some disgusting food item missed under the cabinet or something.  I didn't see anything, so we asked him where the cracker was...he crawled over to Brian's heels and pointed, "cracker. cracker feet".  Perhaps time for Brian to bust out with the pumice!

- The other night during dinner Brian and I were playing with him a bit--tapping our fingers and then tickling him.  When we both stopped, he looked at us and exclaimed (with great intonation), "do it again, BOYS!".  After we all stopped cracking up, I said, "Mommy isn't a boy".  Andrew said, "Daddy's a boy".  So, Brian asked, "what is mommy?"  His response: "Mommy is a (long pause)....mommy!"

-One of the few t.v. shows that Brian & I actually regularly watch is the Biggest Loser.  The season premiere was on this week and it started at 7pm (just as we were getting Andrew ready for bed).  So, we had already turned it on as he was geting in his jammies, brushing his teeth, etc.  Well, when the trainers came out to work out with the contestants the first time, there was a lot of yelling (you know what I'm talking about if you've ever seen the show).  Well, Andrew turns around, looking at us with a very concerned face and says, "Not be very nice!!!".

-He is rather adventurous lately and has been trying to climb, jump, dance, etc. on many things.  So, when perched in some crazy place or trying some new antic, he will yell, "look at me guys!"

-And one from right now, Brian just got him some fruit snacks for a little dessert.  We asked him how those fruit snacks are, and he said, "Mmmmm....delicious!" :)

Sorry for the lack of pictures, but hopefully you got a good laugh (or at least a little chuckle!)
