Wow! This pregnancy has absolutely flown by! Guess that's what happens when you already have a toddler and have been working full time, selling a house, house shopping, moving, etc. for months! :) This weekend we hit 37 weeks, which is considered full term. Medically speaking, baby is welcome to come anytime. Though, I think Mommy and Daddy would prefer he wait at least another 10 days or so! There's been so much to do with the house and moving that we have barely taken care of anything for his impending arrival. We have the necessary furniture and 1 pack of diapers, but that furniture needs to be set up, clothes need to be washed, car seat needs to be installed, and a few new things need to be purchased (like some new pacis, bottles, etc.). Also, "baby brudder" needs a name! To appease many who've been asking, :) I will let you know that Eli, Matthew, and Zachary are the front-runners, but no decision has been made and the name we choose impacts the middle name choice. So, needless to say, there is A LOT left to do!
By this point, he should weigh at least 6 pounds and will gain around 1/2 ounce a week. Given my large belly, many think (even the Dr. commented last week) that he will be big. But, they said the same thing about Andrew too and he was only 7lbs 3oz at 40 weeks & 5 days! So, we'll see.
At any rate, there is no mistaking the fact that I am VERY pregnant and due soon. I get comments daily about "popping", "any day now", "can't believe you're still here", etc. Aside from the obvious excitement about having this new little guy join our family soon, we are very excited about big changes this week. Andrew's last day (hopefully for good) of daycare was Friday. I'm not sure that he quite comprehended the fact that he wouldn't be going back, but we tried to prep him ahead of time. We brought in a thank you card, "pupcakes", and took lots of pictures. The teachers & his friends made him a big "we'll miss you" poster complete with dinosaur stamps.
I think there will be days where he misses the social interaction--especially with his "BFF" Avi, but hopefully this will be a very positive change for us! If nothing else, it is certainly a positive financial change. It's been such a blessing to be able to have him at school with me, but it will be so much nicer to have him home and have it just be me & my boys (how crazy is that?!).
This week he is spending time with Grammy who is on spring break. Then, my last day is Friday (well, my last day until finals week that is). I am ECSTATIC! I still have a million papers to grade (ok, really it's 640, but that's plenty enough and feels somewhat like a million!) and many organizational things to do to get ready for my leave. But, the fact that it is only 4 more days makes it seem all the more manageable! I worked past my due date with Andrew and while it was doable, I am definitely looking forward to having a little break (hopefully) and some time here just with Andrew before "baby brudder" arrives.
No matter how things play out, the next few weeks are sure to be exciting times. And, no matter when the new little man decides to make his big debut, one thing is almost for sure--by 4 weeks from today I should be sitting in this same chair where I type now, with a little newborn nestled next to me! Hopefully it looks something like this:
