Wow! It's so crazy to think that our first baby is rapidly approaching 4! Somehow it seems as though our big boy is looking even more big and more 'boy' all the time! And, now he is finally doing all those "big boy" things, like going to the potty! YAY!
On his half birthday, we hunkered down and just decided there was no going back. Although we had made some attempts at potty training for the past 5 months or so, things hadn't really been working. Andrew hadn't really been interested and we hadn't pushed it too much. So, we've been at it about 10 days now and have had numerous days with no accidents!! He's still in a diaper when sleeping, but otherwise it's undies for this guy. And, (finally) he likes them a lot. Some days are better than others, but it's going SO much better now! Maybe he was finally ready this time...or maybe the addition of some potty candy worked...who knows?! But, whatever the case, it's working!! He looks pretty cute in his Buzz Lightyear, Thomas, and Cars undies!
We started his sticker chart back in July, but it wasn't getting us anywhere. Finally, this go 'round, he really got into it and was SO happy when he finally filled it up and got to go pick out his toy. He chose Mack & Doc Hudson from Cars. And, he loves them!!
The other progress we've had lately is with his letters--he is regularly recognizing at least 1/2 the alphabet and also is remembering what the letters are for. Show this kid a letter A and he'll tell you that A is for Andrew, Avi, Ant, Alligator, and Apple! :) He also gets pretty excited about "E for Eli!"
And, speaking of Eli, he has the best big brother!! We've been so pleased at how well Andrew has done this past 6 months with all the changes to his little world! He is still doing great with Eli and seems to genuinely enjoy having his little brother around (well, most of the time anyway).
Lately, he has been more excited about helping in the kitchen and doing various projects. He gets really excited if we are going to make something. This was helping make heartbeet cookies:
And, he recently learned how to shuck corn too! :)
His imagination seems to grow by leaps and bounds every week, though his choice of toys hasn't really changed. His favorites are still definitely his cars/trains and hard animals. Thanks to the cool corral from Great Grandma Bailey, he and Daddy recently built quite the zoo for said animals!!
So, definitely still as cute as ever! :) We're looking forward to seeing what the next few months bring on the road to 4!
