It's been perfect swimming weather here in the Valley of the Sun for a few weeks now (shocking, I know!). And, we have definitely been putting my parents' newly remodeled pool to good use. We've been swimming for at least the past 3 weekends now.
The new slide has been a lot of fun. Andrew loves to go down it with Mommy, Daddy or Grampy. And, he loves counting to 3 and then jumping in off the side. Andrew has always done well in the water, but he definitely has a new found level of comfort. He has been trying to just push off of people and actually swim--but he hasn't quite mastered keeping his head out of the water/coming up for air, so free swimming isn't exactly "ok" for him yet.
Another fun thing this summer is that Sadie likes the water too! Although she appears that she may leap of the side at any moment, she has only jumped in as deep as the top stair. But, there, she loves to splash around--she even puts her face in!

Andrew not only has a variety of swim suits, but now a variety of floatation devices as well! :) Here you can see the assortment of two-year-old swim wear:
Andrew sporting some cool tropical turtle & palms swim trunks, complete with a dinosaur hat.
I call these his "skins" --very cool 100SPF protected fabric to keep my pastey-white child sunburn & skin cancer free! (At least that's the hope anyway).
This is his funny, Sumo-wrestler floatie suit that Grammy bought him (which, yes, he is wearing over his "skins"--again, protected as much of the little white body as possible). And, now this weekend, we bought him a life-jacket. Not sure what effect the floatie suits/life jacket has on his developing swimming skills, but it is MUCH easier for handling him in the water. It's fun to allow him to just "float" around a bit! Plus, the life jacket will be needed when we head to the newly revamped water park a block from our house this summer! :) Woo Hoo!
I'm sure there will be many more swimming outings to come! :)
