Fun Fall Weekends!

The past two weekends we've had some fun family outings. Two weeks ago we went to the Fireman's Parade to kick off fire safety month. The parade has been an annual event for almost 30 years. Along with Grammy & Grampy, we headed off to historic downtown Glendale to watch all the fire trucks go by (and various other cars & groups).
Andrew LOVED standing with Grammy & waving at all the firefighters. Another big hit was the Golden Retrievers that went by!
After the parade, all the fire trucks were parked along the street. Most allowed people to come in & they gave out firefighter hats. We went into a "HazMat" truck which was really interesting. There were also various booths set up, so we walked around a bit before it was time to head home for naps & lunch!
This past weekend then, we took advantage of some of the cooler weather we've been having and we finally went hiking again! The mornings have been GORGEOUS! So, we packed up our gear and we headed out to a new location: Cave Creek Regional Park.
It was quite a pretty desert area, with lots of options for things to do--a nature center (we didn't stop in since we had Sadie with us), horseback riding, picnic areas, a playground, and MANY different hiking trails. Needless to say, Andrew's favorite was the playground and he would have been happy to forgo the hike to just stay & play!
We did manage to pry him away to go on the hike and after a few tears over leaving the playground, he did enjoy it. :)
Hiking while pregnant was interesting for me, as I found myself much more tired & out-of-breath than I normally would be. Amazing what the increased blood & fluid supply does! But, we made it to the point we wanted to and the views were quite nice! At our turn around point, we found a nice bench to enjoy the view & some oranges!
Hopefully we can now make hiking an every weekend (or at least more frequent) outing! :)
