Once we got all settled in to our room, Eli had his footprints done and got all cleaned up. This hospital experience was so different and SOOO much better than with Andrew. Even though it was a bit of a drive, it was well worth it. Everything was done in our presence, in the room. A much more family centered environment!
We did manage to get a little sleep that first night and then had a day of visitors--most importantly, Andrew! My mom and sister brought Andrew & Brian's parents up to see us about 10:30. Andrew was noticeably nervous and a bit unsure about the situation. But, he'd never been in a hospital before and hadn't seen us in 24 hours. So, that wasn't too surprising.
He was excited to see Baby Brudder, but then, wasn't too sure or terribly interested in the whole situation. He gave Baby Brudder his present (a puppy he picked out) and then threw it into Eli's crib. :) Then, he was quite excited to get some new books and dinosaurs from Baby Brudder.
Everyone else enjoyed holding baby Eli! :)
We all had lunch together, then they headed home for Andrew's nap. My friend Kim also came by that afternoon. And, we of course had various other people in & out all day (Dr.'s, nurses, lactation consultants, birth certificate registrar, etc.). After a full day, we were pretty tired and went to bed earlier.
Thankfully, we managed to get a good few hours of sleep that night as well! Although this hospital experience was MUCH nicer than our first, by this night, we were very much so looking forward to being discharged the next day!!
