4th of July

We spent the 4th of July (which happened to be Eli's 3-month birthday) at the cabin my parents rented. A much cooler way to spend the 4th to be sure!
This cabin community amongst the pines has a small town feel. For the 4th, the fire department put on a charity BBQ fundraiser and there was a holiday parade. So, we donned our red, white, & blue and ventured on down to the main part of town where Andrew happily played on the play ground, while Eli slept.
As the morning went on, more and more people arrived. There were a lot of people there!! We enjoyed the fire department's BBQ lunch and waited for the parade to start.
I know I'm just a little biased, but I thought Eli was looking especially cute on his 3-month birthday.
Reminded me of 3 years ago when we celebrated Andrew's first 4th...
Just before the parade, Andrew met one of the biggest dogs we've ever seen. WOW!
Then, we watched what was could possibly be the longest "golf cart" parade ever!
The majority of "floats" were just locals with various styles of decorated golf carts. But, there were some really cool old cars, tractors, horses, and military vehicles.
The rest of the day was pretty low key--we enjoyed our own BBQ here at the cabin and then watched the 3 big 4th specials on tv. How I love the Boston Pops playing "Stars and Stripes Forever"!! Speaking of stars and stripes, here's some pretty cute ones...
And, I promised you'd see a lot more of matching outfits. While they weren't a perfect match, they sure were pretty cute. It was hard to get a good picture of both of them...here are the ones that I like the best:
Hope your 4th was a happy one!
