Today, I am one proud mama! Andrew had his first trip to the dentist and did an absolutely outstanding job!! I found a great, pediatric dentist who gives a 25% discount with our insurance (since annoyingly our insurance considers it a specialty & won't cover it) and they even waived another standard fee for me today!
When I called to get pricing & information about the visit, they said that often times with the kids' first visits, especially at age 3, they often don't get x-rays or a cleaning done because the kids are scared, won't sit still, are screaming, etc.
Well, I'm pleased to report that they got everything done. Upper & lower X-rays, a cleaning, and a fluoride treatment! The hygienist was quite impressed and everyone told him what a good job he did!
He was a little nervous at first with the X-rays, but then warmed right up.
The people there were really great and the atmosphere was wonderful for kids. I think that really helped him feel at ease. He thought the special sun glasses were pretty cool too and kept saying how he was "just like Mommy"! :)
The only area of concern is that he has a cross-bite, meaning his teeth don't line up properly when he bites down, and (if it doesn't resolve itself as his permanent teeth come in) will result in some orthodontist visits down the round. But, for now, his teeth are healthy & everything else looks great!
So, here's to the healthy teeth of a wonderfully behaved 3 year old who his Momma is so proud of (and who this picture would suggest that he is pretty proud of too!)
