This week's best deals...

Between the being at the cabin for almost 10 days, the dentist visit, play dates, and fun visitors, I haven't really done much shopping & couponing the past few weeks. So, we needed quite a few essentials by the time this week was over.
CVS was having a sale on baby formula, so I decided to stop there on the way home from the airport and try my hand at the couponing game there. I'd say it was pretty successful! Here's everything I bought:
Regularly priced with no coupons, that shopping trip would have cost just over $65. Instead, I paid $27! :) Now, while $27 might not seem like a cheap quick trip to the local drug store (especially when I see some of these crazy couponing ladies paying like $2 or less for bags stuff), I was still pretty excited as $27 is about the price that you would pay out of pocket for just the can of formula when it isn't on sale and we don't have any coupons. Pretty cool!
Then, this morning, I headed over to Fry's who was having a big sale. And lucky for me, I had coupons for TONS of the sale items! It was my best big shopping trip yet. While I have hit 50%-65% savings on things before, I haven't had a big trip that good yet (you know, the kind of big shopping trip where your cart is full to the brim with groceries). Have a look at everything I bought (in 3 pictures, because I couldn't get it to fit in one)...
Normal retail value: over $283!!
Price I paid......$103! (A 64% savings!)
Once I saw all the savings coming off, I was so hoping to crack $100--so close! I'm still pretty pleased! I got some awesome deals--free deodorant, free Lever 2000 soap; Q-tips, toothpaste, Loreal shampoo & conditioner for less than $1! Sargento cheese slices (normally $3.99-4.99 each) for 88 cents! Two personal watermelons for $1 (it was pretty fun using coupons to buy watermelons!) The chicken was buy far the most expensive thing I bought and it even was a good deal (just over 6 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $10.50). Our freezer, fridge, and pantry are all stocked full--in fact, we have more variety and quantity than ever before and we are spending less money! Pretty cool!

And, speaking of good deals, we are now off to the Arizona Museum of Natural History (a.k.a. the "dinosaur" museum) for free! (A $26 savings! ) :) Should be fun!

  1. Coupons are pretty dang awesome. You should see my mother-in-law at CVS and Rite Aid. She has her own personal drug store at home and she was able to get most of it for free by watching sales and using coupons! Keep it up!!
